Making the most of life while living on a budget

About Me

My name is Beth Brown.

I get excited when I find a good deal or when someone offers me a free thing. I’m interested in saving money and in helping others figure out how to budget and save their money.

I am a Communicators Coordinator for a non-profit (by day) and a substitute teacher (by, em, other day). I’m a wife, a writer, and a fellow human being.

Feel free to connect with me in the social media world or by commenting on my posts. I’m looking forward to sharing with you all!

  1. Hi Beth,

I’m enjoying your blog. Tobi and I are with you in terms of student debt. I look forward to learning from you–I am a struggling ‘spender’ and have found it difficult at times to ALWAYS save…sometimes it’s nice to splurge a little, right? πŸ™‚ Our goal is to be debt free in the next 3-4 years. It would be a breathe of fresh air to not have the burden of debt. It was the main reason why we headed to Northern Sask and then China to work. (Not many teaching jobs in BC atm) –it was a struggle to be away from family/friends/church.

You are inspiring me to stay focused and know that it will all pay off in the end–so, like you say, Tobi and I can be generous in our giving down the road.

Lots of love to you today my old camp friend! <3

    • Joy – thanks for your encouragement! It’s nice to be reminded we’re not alone on the journey. I also have trouble saving – it feels really boring and not very active. But I am reminded that managing money well now means more freedom later!

I look forward to continuing this journey to debt-free with you and other fellow sojourners. Great to hear from you!

  2. Nice pic Beth. If my recall is correct, we were able to join you for this Canadian Thanksgiving a few years ago. My memory is of a very enjoyable “classy” evening….nothing “frugal” about it. So if you were being frugal (not a bad thing, right?) we sure couldn’t tell.

Hope your new blog adventure goes super duper!

    • That’s right David, you were! Such a fun day. Frugal doesn’t necessary mean “cheap” – a blog post on that to come! It was a classy event, and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the well wishes.
